A Romantic Weekend in Hermann, Missouri: The Perfect 2-Day Getaway
Tucked into the rolling hills along the Missouri River, Hermann feels like a little slice of wine country in the Midwest. With historic architecture, vineyard views, charming shops, and a relaxed pace, it’s the kind of place where time slows down and allows you to escape the hustle and bustle of life.
If you’re planning a couples’ getaway, here’s a relaxed 2-day itinerary that blends wine tasting, scenic views, local dining, and quiet moments together.
Day 1: Welcome to Wine Country
Afternoon - Check-in at Vinchester Inn
Start your weekend by checking in at Vinchester Inn, a design-forward, modern boutique hotel. With it's prime location in the heart of Hermann's historic district, you can drop your bags and not touch your car until it's time to leave on Sunday. Hermann is compact and walkable, making it ideal for wandering hand-in-hand past historic storefronts, wine cellars, and charming eateries.
Check-in (early, 12:30 PM is available for just $15 - well worth it!) to settle in to your home for the weekend.
Pro-tip: Add The Fancy Stay to your reservation and arrive to a handcrafted charcuterie box and bottle of wine from the inn's general store, The Fancy Pheasant. Enjoy it on your private balcony or on the shared sun deck!
.
Afternoon - Unwind at Tin Mill Brewery
On a beautiful afternoon, there is no better place to be than the Tin Mill Brewery beer garden. Grab a cold pint and an appetizer to share (pretzels 🤝 beer), play a game of cornhole, or sit by a fire pit and soak in the atmosphere.

Evening - Dinner at The Vintage
Head up to Stone Hill Winery for dinner at a Hermann mainstay restuarant, The Vintage 1847. It's in the property's original stable building, so you just may be sat in what was once a horse stall. It's charming, nostalgic and perfectly unfussy. German dishes are their speciality, all paired with their award-winning wines, of course!
Pro-tip: May through October, Sunsets at Stone Hill takes place 5-8pm with live music and light bites in the Sherry House, overlooking the vineyards.

Evening - A Nightcap
When the sun goes down, 4th Street in Hermann is the place to be. Just one street over from the Vinchester, there are a few options, whether you are looking for lively or quiet.
1837 Cellar Bar - A lively spot with live music in their courtyard 7 nights/week May-October.
Bar Vin - A relaxed wine bar with a great wine and beer list, craft cocktails and small plates. We love ending the night next to the fire pit on their back deck or cozying up in a corner spot with a board game.
Day 2: Local Shops & Wine Tasting
Morning - Breakfast and a Stroll
Start your day with breakfast at Ainsley's Place, an all day breakfast and lunch spot. It's small and popular, so we recommend getting there as early as possible.
After breakfast, grab a coffee at Espresso Laine and spend the morning browsing Hermann’s specialty shops.
A few worthwhile stops for a couple to enjoy together:
- The Fancy Pheasant - our general store & bottle shop
- Saleigh Mountain - leather shop
- Missouri Trading Post - vendor booths, lots of locally made
- The Olive Branch - olive oil and balsamic tasting
You can also visit:
- Deutschheim State Historic Site to learn more about the area’s German roots
- Hermann Farm for scenic grounds and historic exhibits

Afternoon - Wine Tasting
Hop on the Hermann Trolley for easy, carefree transportation to our local wineries.
Book an Elevated Tasting at Adam Puchta Winery (Vinchester Inn has a partnership and can book it for you in advance!). The tasting includes an intimate, guided wine tasting with Reidel glassware and a locally sourced charcuterie board. The guide will suggest pairings from the board and provide great information about the winery's history. This experience is not to be missed!
At Stone Hill Winery, don't miss the free cellar tour, which offers a behind the scenes look at their extensive cellars and production facility. At the end of the tour, head to the tasting room to choose your favorite. Enjoy a bottle overlooking town from the top of the hill.
An afternoon is always well spent at Oak Glenn, where the view is the highlight. A great spot to take photos and relax with another glass.
Hermannhof Winery is right in town, a great last stop that makes it easy to walk back to your hotel from. Their creekside patio offers idyllic Hermann vibes.

Evening - Casual Dinner and Relaxing
After a long day of shopping and tasting your way through wine country, a casual, delicious dinner is in order. Doxie Slush is our favorite with a coastal-inspired menu and frozen cocktails - all housemade and chef driven.
Head back to the inn to end the day on the back sun deck. With a bottle of local wine, enjoy a lowkey night together by the fire, and start planning your next trip back!

Fall weekends are especially popular, so booking accommodations early is a good idea.
